Kino Central Berlin is a vibrant testament to Berlin’s cinematic history and a cultural meeting point in the heart of the city. Since its founding in 1996, the cinema has been an integral part of Haus Schwarzenberg, a listed building complex at Rosenthaler Straße 39, renowned for its artistic diversity and historical significance.

Haus Schwarzenberg was established in 1995 by the Berlin artist collective “Dead Chickens” as a creative space and today hosts a unique mix of art, culture, and remembrance. In addition to the cinema, the complex houses the Anne Frank Center, the Otto Weidt Blind Workshop Museum, the Neurotitan Gallery, as well as studios and offices of artists and creatives. This interdisciplinary exchange makes Haus Schwarzenberg a lively hub for encounters and dialogue.

Kino Central presents a carefully curated program of arthouse films, classics, sophisticated mainstream, premieres, and special events.

Most films are shown in their original versions with English or German subtitles, making Kino Central a popular destination for international visitors.
